Oh Siri, how sad! I agree. We have so many types of blocks, but nothing beats a wooden unit block. Keep your eyes peeled for childcare centers that are closing (sadly, way too many are struggling more now than ever) or even public school sales in your area. They are worth every dime. I’d share with all your co-workers and parents that you are looking for wooden unit blocks. They truly are the best. Great teachers who are retiring would love to pass them on to another teacher who gives their students time to PLAY! Good luck!

My current classroom has foam blocks and they just don’t have the stability that comes from the solidness of the wood. Towers never balance as well, things get knocked over easily as someone walks by and that leads to frustration among my builders.

It can fill up a whole morning. A group project broke out when 3 students brought toys with wheels one day. It moved from the carpet track to a ramp built with every block at their disposal. It was going well until “Godzilla” arrived to take out the town. Lesson over.
