It also allows the teacher to understand the way the child is thinking so appropriate scaffolding questions can be asked.

Reminding us that children can \”read\” their patterns and talk through them is very important. Copying or repeating is one thing, but being able to explain why, is another.

The children are usually asked to tell us something about their patterns. That is an excellent way in which we can help children use visual discrimination, decoding, and reinforce their more complex pattern recognition skills.
