Errata- Over the past several months I have written about Sid the Science Guy only to discover last week that it is actually Sid the Science Kid! I apologize to all of Sid’s fans out there.

This is a nice game that fits in perfectly with the April’s Thursday Theme of Weather. Sid the Science Guy is looking at thermometers and matching like temperatures. There are clues in the pictures that help children figure out which ones go together based on the weather. Cold weather pictures have thermometers that show a little red and warm weather pictures show a lot of red on the thermometer. The visual clues will help the children to be successful at the game, but it also reinforces the notion of weather and measurement of temperatures.

Here’s another one from the one and only Sid the Science Guy. In this game, children click on the weather wheel which spins around and around. When it stops, Sid tells the children what kind of weather it is outside. There are all sorts of weather-specific clothes hanging near Sid and children have to dress Sid so he is ready for the weather.

This is a nice game for sorting by attributes. Sid the Science Guy is putting rocks in a box and he needs them sorted by color. As children get better and better at putting the colored rocks in the correct columns, the game becomes more complex. Sid gives kids positive reinforcement when they sort the rocks correctly and helps them when they make a mistake.

Once again, PBSkids rocks! (Get it? Rocks?)
