It connects to themselves or their own personal experiences.

The children did a great job with this as it was something involving their personal experiences.

Using both the numbers and shapes to represent the numbers and addition. This activity can be done at home as well; parents can cut out pictures of the numbers and shapes and children can scaffold their learning at school. Using colors and shapes can capture the children\’s attention, and adding a story about numbers can help continue the learning using the vocabulary of numbers too.

Which methods are you talking about? Remember, for young children, behavior and reactions are contextual, so it is altogether possible that the child does things at home that she doesn\’t do at school.

It only takes a single child to say \”mo mo mo\” for the rest of them to ask for something different to eat.

Parent says child does it at home for her but does not have any idea at school?
